8 Seasons CD
Daniel's new CD of the Piazzolla/Vivaldi '8 Seasons' was recently released to critical acclaim. 'To know the meaning of the word fabulous, listen to this Piazzolla', wrote Paul Boekkooi, leading SA critic. The recording, with the Stellenbosch University Camerata was made at the end of Daniel's South African tour in September '08, in the Fismer Hall of Stellenbosch University, following a performance at Cape Town City Halls.
Daniel has performed the 8 Seasons to great critical acclaim recently:
" What an exceptionally fine soloist and leader this young British/Dutch violinist is! ...emotive and totally and truly charismatic....No wonder Rowland quoted Piazzolla as saying " No risk, no life ". Daniel Rowland approached Vivaldi in the same way. The emotions, smouldering passions, the melancholy...Rowland transported us with daring and severity into the composers soul " - Paul Boekkooi, Pretoria News 9-'08
" Unforgettable Seasons - The visiting Rowland caused a stir in our concert halls with his absolute immersion in the music, always completely at the service of the composer. Rowland exuded an amazing control over his musical powers and a true sense of life....Rowland's bow arm, intonation and sonority and the constant healthy tension in musical colors reached wondrous heights...and how touchingly the final bars were realized " - Thys Odendaal, Beeld 9-'08
" The succes and conviction and of the Seasons lay with Rowland. He handles the violin as an extra, but 'integral' limb. He creaps round the stage as an enfant terrible, dragging you and the ensemble along with the force of his magical imagination. His sound, even without vibrato, is rich and sweet as honey, his interpretation moody he doesn't fear to let his violin scratch and groan." - Die Burger, Cape Town, '09

Beurs van Berlage Concerts - spring '10
We regret that part of the Schumann Festival that was to take place in Amsterdam from 9-11 April has had to be partially cancelled. We are all very sorry about this, but look forward to the remaining concert on Friday the 9th, and to the other 2 ChamberJam concerts at the Beurs:
March 5: Elgar (violin sonata & piano quintet) Purcell & Bridge -with Daniel, Benjamin Roskams, Vladimir Mendelssohn, David Cohen & Frank van de Laar - " a rare chance in Amsterdam to hear these 2 late masterpieces by Elgar - The piano quintet is surely one of the most touching and gorgeous of all romantic chamber works - unmissable! "
April 9: Schumann, Clara Schumann & Brahms: with Daniel, Priya Mitchell, Joel Waterman, David Cohen...
" Clara Schumann's infinitely touching Romances, with Robert's 'Clara quartet', an outpouring of his love for her - and Brahms' dark and sombre C minor piano quartet - which become more sunny, and very tender in the ravishing slow movement...dedicated to Clara - some of the most poetic music imaginable..."
May 28: 'Latin!' - Rossini, Turina, Ginastera and Piazzolla with Bandoneon virtuoso Marcello Nisinman and the ChamberJam Ensemble: Daniel, Priya Mitchell, Jan Bastiaan Neven, Luis Cabrera ..plus the fantastic Bizet/Milone Carmen Phantasy.
" A Latin night - from Rossini to Carmen and Piazzolla's Oblivion"
" Born in Buenos Aires, Argentina, in 1970, Marcelo Nisinman is a composer and master performer of the bandoneon. He currently lives in Basel, Switzerland, and is an active member of the international music/tango scene......Marcelo Nisinman has performed with Gidon Kremer, Gary Burton, Fernando Suarez Paz, the Assad Brothers, the WDR Big Band under Vince Mendoza, the Belgrad Philharmonic and the Philadelphia Orchestra conducted by Charles Dutoit, among others "
